OEM begins with a defined product platform
An OEM electric pruning shears project should begin by selecting and identifying the product platform. The model, confirmed cutting capacity and documented internal configuration form the technical baseline. Branding and packaging can then be developed around that baseline without confusing presentation changes with product changes.
COCHUMS currently organizes its range into six platforms, including two shared families with multiple confirmed configurations. Buyers can review the complete product range before discussing which platform should be evaluated.
Product configuration
Configuration discussions may involve confirmed motor, blade, controller, gear and display options already associated with a product family. A requested change is not automatically available and should not be treated as approved until it has been reviewed. The project record should distinguish the current catalogue configuration from any development objective.
For shared platforms such as CPS-02/03/04 or CPS-05/06/07, select the exact version. Do not approve packaging against the family image alone. The version table, sample reference and written quotation should point to the same model.
Branding and visual identity
Private-label work can include the buyer’s approved brand presentation on the product and associated materials. Logo files, placement, colour treatment and required legal text should be supplied in suitable formats and reviewed through proofs. The scope must be confirmed for the selected product rather than assumed across the entire range.
Branding does not alter the technical product by itself. Keeping the visual approval separate from technical approval helps the buyer understand which changes affect appearance and which affect configuration.
Colour selection
Some COCHUMS platforms have confirmed colour presentations, such as red and blue, while CPS-01 also lists black. A project may discuss available colour presentation, but a requested colour should be confirmed before it appears in sales materials. Do not infer colour availability from a photograph of another model.
Colour proofs can also look different across screens, printed packaging and moulded components. The project should use an agreed reference and identify which parts of the product are included in the colour scope.
Packaging customization
Packaging can communicate the brand, model identity and verified product information. Buyers may discuss layout, logo, product photography, language and market information. Every technical statement should be checked against the approved model. Unknown voltage, battery, weight, certification or performance data should not be added merely to fill a template.
Packaging development should include a controlled proof process. Record revisions, confirm the represented product image and ensure the final version matches the order reference. This reduces the risk of mixing specifications between models.
Sample and validation process
A sample allows the buyer to verify the selected product format and configuration before production planning. The sample should be labelled or documented clearly. If feedback results in a change, both parties should identify the revised state and decide what needs to be checked again.
Validation requirements depend on the project. COCHUMS does not publish generic promises for lead time, tooling, certification, warranty or production capacity. Those subjects must be discussed and confirmed for the actual scope.
Production support
After the product and presentation are approved, production support coordinates component integration, assembly, testing, quality control and packaging requirements. The COCHUMS Manufacturing page summarizes the current production framework.
Clear approval records remain important during this stage. They connect the chosen model, branding and packaging to the production discussion and make later changes easier to manage.
What to prepare for an OEM inquiry
- Target market and intended application
- Product platforms or capacity classes to evaluate
- Required brand and logo files
- Preferred confirmed colour options
- Packaging format and language requirements
- Known documentation or compliance needs
- Questions that still require supplier confirmation
Use the OEM/ODM overview to understand the workflow, then send COCHUMS a project brief. Keeping the first inquiry structured helps separate confirmed requirements from items that still need evaluation.
